Christmas Musical, Night of Lights, and Candy Making

This past week and half has been crazy around here. Last Tuesday was Savannah's Christmas musical and it was so cute. Savannah did great and loved being on stage. She loves to entertain. Afterwords there was a little Christmas party in her classroom and I got to see all the great crafts she has been making and then Ms. Sue (her teacher) handed me a homemade Christmas card from Savannah with a key chain with her picture in it. It is so sweet! I love it so much.

I love this picture of Savannah.
Savannah and her best friends in school, Payton and Reagan.

Since Corey and I are both out of school this month we have been taking full advantage of every minute we can. We had a lot of fun making candy together. Corey loves peanut butter balls, so I found a recipe. It was very hard to make. We knew it should not have been so hard, so after talking with Corey's aunt Kim we figured out that the recipe I found was not the best one to use. The balls still turned out yummy though. A friend of mine, Paige, came over the other day and we made some more candy and brownies. She came up with chocolate covered graham crackers with Andes chocolate on top and they are so delicious! We had a great time and Savannah helped every step of the way.

A really fun thing that we did was go to Lake Lanier's Night of Lights. We new we wanted to go because Savannah has been "owing and awing" over all the neighborhood lights, so we knew she would enjoy the Night of Lights and Corey and I did too! There was a live Nativity scene with hot chocolate. Savannah loved it. Later on we roasted marshmallows over a open fire. It was so much fun.

Christmas is this week and we are so excited. We celebrated Christmas with my grandmother this past Sunday and it was fun getting together with everyone. We always have so much fun together. We will be celebrating with our other family on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Its a busy week.

Happy Holidays!

Gingerbread House

Every since I was a little girl the one thing that I always wanted to do but never did was to build a gingerbread house. For some reason that is such a holiday thing to do in my mind. The other day Corey and I were out and Corey decided to get one. I was so excited. I couldn't wait until Savannah saw it. We picked her up from school and I opened my mouth about it. It was the first thing that we did when we got home that day. This little kit was amazing! It provided everything you needed and then some. We had enough candy to munch on while building the house and enough icing to squirt on Savannah's fingers every now and again and enough to squirt in her mouth ;) Hey its the holidays. he he.

Before we got started.

Notice Savannah's hand. Her whole hand was in her mouth :)

The icing on her face is from the icing fight we got into.

We have so much going on in the month of December. We have something planned every weekend and almost everyday of the week. I was looking at my calendar and couldn't believe how busy we are! I am really excited about next Tuesday. Its Savannah's Christmas Musical and she has been practicing for weeks. The songs are so cute that they are singing:

Twinkle, Twinkle, Special Star,
Guiding Wise Men from afar,
Up above the world so bright
Shining on that special night.
Twinkle, Twinkle, Special Star,
Guiding Wise Men from afar.

The children will also be doing a duet with the Chipmunks, singing Deck the Halls and a lot more cute little verses. Savannah is understanding that Christmas is about the birth of Christ and it so sweet to listen to hear tell me about it. An awesome thing about the month of December is Corey and I are both out of school! I am so excited that Corey's off days will feel like real family time (when he is not doing side jobs).

We had pictures taken of the kids yesterday and it was an experience! I think Austin might of been a little too young. Oh well, we will try again. We managed to get a couple good poses. I will try and post them on her if I can.

Getting Ready For the Holidays

Our house-hold has been very busy these past few weeks. Thanksgiving was last week and the holidays are always so hectic for us because we have so many families to split our time with. This year we only saw my mom and Coreys moms side. It was Austin's first Thanksgiving. To bad he didn't get to eat any of the amazing food! The Friday after Thanksgiving Corey went to hunting camp for the whole weekend, so I decided to make Friday night girls night (with the exception of Austin). My sister, Paulina, Heather, and Charleigh came over and spent the night with us. Savannah and Charleigh played themselves until they couldn't play anymore. It was so much fun. We pigged out and watched TV together. Very relaxing.

Since we didn't get to decorate the house for Christmas before Corey left for the weekend. I wanted to do it as soon as he got back. We finally were able to get the house decorated yesterday. Our tree is gorgeous! Savannah was a huge part of decorating this year. We had on TV, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and when she needed a few minute break she would help out. She is really getting into the Christmas spirit. We have been talking about the birth of Jesus and what Christmas really means, but she is really enjoying stories about Santa too. I believe I grew up blessed in so many ways, but one way in particular knowing the Jewish religion as well as the christian ones too. So we have a Menorah as well as a Christmas tree. I have been trying to explain Hanukkah to Savannah as well.

Austin has been growing like a weed. A few weeks ago was his 1 month check up and everything was great. He is 11 1.5 pounds now! He has started smiling too. Savannah was a big baby too. We love chunky monkeys :) School finals are around the corner for Corey and I and we are so excited about our 1 month break! Very needed and well deserved.

Okay, so I am finally going to get this started. I don't even know where to begin. Lets try the beginning :) Corey and I met the summer of 2000 at a party and we hit it off right away. We have been together ever since. Corey and I were married March 15, 2004. Our ceremony was little but nice. We got pregnant with Savannah one month later. Talk about getting pregnant fast!

Savannah was born March 3, 2005, weighing 9 lbs 9 oz. Two weeks before she was born we moved into our first house. On October 14, 2008,weighing 7 lbs 11 oz., we welcomed our second child, Austin. Austin suffered from pneumothorex. The first 8 hours of his little life was spent in transition nursery because he was having a hard time breathing. He finally came to my room later that night and spent the whole night with me. The next day my nurse was going to get him treated for jaundice and as she undressed him she notice that the irregular breathing was back, by looking at his chest. She called the pediatrician and he ordered an x-ray. That is when it was discovered that his right lung had collapsed! Apparently, his lung tore sometime after birth and collapsed. He underwent immediate surgery and the doctors stuck a tube in his chest to suck out the air, so his lung could fix itself and Austin spent 4 days in NICU. We finally went home that Saturday night and Austin has been a healthy baby boy since. The doctors said that we should never have to worry about this problem again! Thank goodness.

Our days are spent with me staying at home with the kiddies and going to school at night. Corey works full time and goes to school at night too. Our lives get very hectic, but I try to remind myself that this is the best time of our lives. I am so blessed to be able to stay at home while I am in school. I hopefully will be done with school next July and then I will have to join the real world. So, right know I am loving it.
